Okay, it's been a while since I've posted...like 10 months or so. I'm realizing that Luke's second birthday is just around the corner, and I last posted pics just after his first birthday. Whoops!

So, here's a picture of Luke and his cousin Gwen recently after a cold morning at the park. They were going down the soaking wet slides and picking up pieces of ice so we decided to get some hot chocolate then plunk them down in a warm bubble bath. Luke was a little put out that someone was invading his tub, so Gwen tried to give him a kiss. I think that put him out even more. The end result was pretty cute, though.

In other news, Luke's favorite new song is "Hooked on a Feeling." He likes to sing the "ooga chakka" refrain while Marty sings lead. Luke's starting to horn in on the lead, though, so I think Marty's afraid they won't end up winning the big daddy-baby karaoke contest that's bound to be coming up soon. Oddly, Luke really seems to like the creepy David Hasselhoff music video that Marty youtubed for him recently. Here's the link so you can watch it over and over and over again and enjoy yourselves as much as we do every night! If you look really carefully at the revolving cube at the beginning, you'll notice the dog barking along to the refrain. Luke is convinced that's Phoebe and he keeps telling me that we wants to sing "ooga chakka with Phoebe."

Thanks for checking in! I'll try to keep posting more regularly now - especially since I'm keeping up with my other blog Parenting Pearls of Wisdom. If you haven't gotten a chance to look at it, check it out and let me know what you think!

Here are a couple other recent Luke pics.

So, it's been a while...

And now Luke is a year old! It's hard to believe he's already a year, but almost harder to believe that we've only had him around for a year. Luke had a GREAT first birthday. My mom and dad and McB and John came over to help him eat cake and celebrate. He was a little skeptical about the cake at first, and just ate a small bite at first, then realized how much he liked it and tried to fit the whole piece in his mouth. He made quick work of the first piece...and the second, and the third. He got some awesome presents, like a huge set of blocks for knocking down towers and a real pair of big boy shoes for professional outdoor walking.

The enduring favorite from the birthday, however, seems to be his new car. Unfortunately, he discovered the recycling bin at about the same time and became very attached to this specific Miller Lite can. We've tried to take it away many times and each time, we're met with these heartbreakingly sad wails. Finally, Marty taped it up so he couldn't hurt himself and now he plays with his two favorite toys together. It makes him happy, and it makes us laugh. Of course, we'll discourage this behavior more seriously starting with his 16th birthday...

Luke's 1-year checkup also went well. Here he is in his big-boy shoes and little else, looking quite proud of his big-boy belly. Must be all the Miller Lite...
